Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator free?

Yes. You can create a QR code and download it as a PNG without an account, up to 10 downloads per day. A free account removes the daily limit and adds your logo, SVG and PDF downloads, every template and saved designs.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The codes are static: the link or details are stored inside the code itself. A code keeps working for as long as the link it points to works.

Can I change where a printed QR code points?

No. Because the link is stored in the code, a new link needs a new code. If you expect the destination to change, point the code at a page you control and update that page instead.

What can a QR code open?

A website link, plain text, an email, a phone call, a text message, a Wi-Fi network, a contact card (vCard), a calendar event or a map location.

How big should a printed QR code be?

At least 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) wide for scanning at arm's length, and larger for posters or signs read from a distance. Keep a dark code on a light background and test it with a phone before printing.
